First Junior section gala held, HMS Drake v HMS Raleigh junior sections.

In August, the Naval Base Children Summer Activities 1997 lasting one week took place. Fifteen children attended and the Club organised the swimming sessions.

• October saw the first Teachers meeting held at Crownhill Naval Community Centre. • Club members represented the Royal Marine Corps v Army Corps Championships. • First Junior Section Christmas party and award Presentation afternoon held in HMS Drake senior rates mess. .
